This course is designed to help you understand how to develop policies that provide an effective response to public policy challenges and achieve the intended outcomes. It will enable participant's new to the policy environment to understand the key stages in policy making and will also help those with experience deepen their understanding of how to develop and implement effective policy.

As well as being designed for civil servants, this course is also useful for others working in roles that require an understanding of policy in the wider public sector (e.g. local government, health and education). People from the private and voluntary sectors who need to understand how to influence government departments in their development and implementation of policy will also find it useful and interesting.

Course Leader

Tony Cash is an expert on policy, strategy and risk management best practice. He is a former civil servant and his roles included Head of Strategy and Communications for the Joint Trade Policy Unit and Deputy Director, Department for Business internal training team. He has trained people in policy making best practice, better regulation, and risk management across the UK and overseas.
